The Church of St Peter, Saxelby.
This very fine grade II* church with its crocketed spire is dedicated to St Peter. The Church was built between the 13th-15th century and heavily restored between 1856-7 to what we see today. The church is made of ironstone, a readily available material in the area and dressed with limestone. Inside the church is a delightful octagonal font, a late 15thC pulpit with elaborate pierced tracery to the top of the panels which retain traces of original painted leaf-trail decoration.
The church was recently placed on the heritage at risk register by Historic England.
