NOTE:
Caution should be taken when completing this cache. It is only available in extremely low tides and you must check these as tides can move quickly. The cache is D5 T5 for a reason.
It would be advisable to bring good footwear and I would not advise doing the cache when it's getting dark or during extreme weather warnings or conditions!
SS DENHAM
The rusted wreck of a survey vessel sunk in an explosion 75 years ago can still be sighted when conditions are right off the coast of Merseyside.
The remains of the SS Denham, which can be seen off the coast of New Brighton during low tides, emerge as a memorial to a terrible accident that killed all but one of her crew. The names of the crew are listed below.

In 1946 - less than a year after the end of World War II - the 103-ton survey vessel struck a German mine that was still hidden in the waters off New Brighton, despite the bay having been swept for such devices.
The terrible explosion tore the vessel apart, killing eight members of the crew and left only one survivor who was thrown unconscious into the water by the force of the blast.
The boat had left Liverpool landing stage between 8am and 8.30am on the morning of July 18 to make a survey in Liverpool Bay.
The vessel was heading back to Liverpool after completing its survey between 1pm and 2pm when the tragedy happened.
An inquest found the German mine had lain undetected on the bed of the river after being dropped during an air raid.
Cache Logging Requirements:
To log this Virtual Geocache, you must take a picture (with proof and within a reasonable proximity of a part the wreck that is visible at the time of your visit, I have been here so i know this may be difficult and may only be a small piece of evidence) of something geocaching related (your name/GPS/trackable/thumbs up etc) and attach it to your found log. For those opting to take a picture further away, the evidence must be recognizable.

Your item/visit proof must be included in the picture at the time and not added afterwards. This is part of the reason it is a D5 Cache.
Pictures taken from an unreasonable distance from GZ will not be accepted.
Do Not send me the picture, attach to your log.
Logs without a picture may be deleted without notification. If you plan to post the picture at later time, please post a "Write Note" rather than a "Found it" log.
In regards to Group pictures, the same photo is permitted but all people in the group must be included in the picture. The group photo should be uploaded to the log of each finder.
