La Cathédrale, dédiée à Saint Tugdual, moine fondateur de Tréguier, est l'une des neuf cathédrales de Bretagne.
C'est le monument religieux le plus important des Côtes d'Armor et l’un des plus beaux édifices religieux bretons.
Sa construction débute au XIème siècle et s’achève au XVème siècle avec l’inauguration du cloître (qui est le plus complet subsistant en Bretagne).
La flèche de plus de 60 mètres de hauteur surplombe toute la ville.
Des motifs de jeu de carte ajourent cette sentinelle de pierre : une référence, dit-on, aux finances de la loterie dans lesquelles Louis XVI aurait puisé pour la financer.
La Cathédrale est aujourd'hui le siège de la paroisse Saint-Yves de Tréguier.
Lieu de sépulture de saint Yves, dont le remarquable tombeau est à l'intérieur, elle est un sanctuaire où l'on vient en pèlerinage, à l'occasion de la fête de saint Yves, où a lieu un grand pardon.

The Cathedral, dedicated to Saint Tugdual, founding monk of Tréguier, is one of the nine cathedrals of Brittany.
It is the most important religious monument in Côtes d'Armor and one of the most beautiful Breton religious buildings. Its construction began in the 11th century and ended in the 15th century with the inauguration of the cloister (which is the most complete remaining in Brittany).
The spire more than 60 meters high overlooks the entire city. Card game motifs open up this stone sentinel: a reference, it is said, to the finances of the lottery from which Louis XVI would have drawn to finance it.
The Cathedral is today the seat of the parish of Saint-Yves de Tréguier.
Burial place of Saint Yves, whose remarkable tomb is inside, it is a sanctuary where people come on pilgrimage, on the occasion of the feast of Saint Yves, where a great pardon takes place.
