La Chapelle Saint-Michel de Rochecoul a été édifiée en 1880-1881 à partir des plans de l’architecte briochin, Jules Morvan. Sur l’îlot Saint-Michel, sa construction a pris place sur les fondations d’une autre chapelle datant du XIII^ème siècle qui appartenait à l’abbaye cistercienne de Saint-Aubin-des-Bois. En 1880, la municipalité et une souscription populaire financent sa construction dont le clocheton est surmonté d’une statue en fonte de Saint-Michel terrassant le démon. Elle est bénie le 9 octobre 1881. Successivement lieu de recueillement, lieu de culte et de pardon en principe le jour de la Saint-Michel (29 septembre), la chapelle et son îlot sont accessibles à certaines marées basses via un sillon appelé tombolo.

The Chapel of Saint-Michel de Rochecoul was built in 1880-1881 from the plans of the Briochin architect, Jules Morvan. On the Saint-Michel islet, its construction took place on the foundations of another chapel dating from the 13th century which belonged to the Cistercian abbey of Saint-Aubin-des-Bois. In 1880, the municipality and a popular subscription financed its construction, the pinnacle of which is surmounted by a cast iron statue of Saint-Michel slaying the demon. It was blessed on October 9, 1881. Successively a place of meditation, a place of worship and forgiveness, in principle on Saint Michael's Day (September 29). the chapel and its islet are accessible at certain low tides via a furrow called tombolo.
