Construit au XVIème siècle par les habitants de Morlaix pour protéger la ville des pillages anglais, le château du Taureau fût restauré et agrandi par Vauban, à la demande de Louis XIV. Il assuma alors successivement les fonctions de défense, de prison, de résidence secondaire, puis d’école de voile avant d’être menacé par la ruine au début des années 80.
La découverte de ce fort à la mer est un véritable voyage au cœur de l’Histoire.

Built in the 16th century by the inhabitants of Morlaix to protect the town from English looting, the Château du Taureau was restored and enlarged by Vauban, at the request of Louis XIV. It then successively assumed the functions of defence, prison, second home, then sailing school before being threatened with ruin in the early 80s.
The discovery of this fort by the sea is a real journey to the heart of history.
