Geocache Description:

Australia loves it's Big Things !

The Big Merino is a big concrete merino ram located in Goulburn just off the Hume Highway. Nicknamed "Rambo" by locals and visitors alike, the Big Merino contains a gift shop on the ground floor and a wool display on the second floor. Visitors can climb to the top and look out through the Merino's eyes to view the local area. The eyes are usually lit up a night.

The Big Merino was originally opened at No. 98 Hume St, Goulburn, approximately 800 metres north-east of its current location.

In the early 1990s, the Hume Highway bypassed Goulburn, which resulted in a loss of many many busloads of tourists to the Big Merino complex per day. Therefore it was decided to move Rambo from it's original location to a new spot closer to the exit off the Hume Highway where several service stations and food outlets still attracted tourists off the highway.

To log this Virtual cache you need to (a) post a photo with your log of yourself - or something that clearly shows your caching team name - in front of Rambo, and (b) go around to the rear of Rambo, find the airconditioning unit in the alley behind and to the right of Rambo's - um - rear, and message me the Company and Model number of the unit. The Model number consists of a letter then 3 numbers then another letter. You may log the cache immediately, but if I do not receive the required information or if there is no suitable photo included with your log I may delete your log.

Note - there is no requirement to enter the structure or the gift shop to qualify for this find. Have fun!
