Ambialet est le site d'une curiosité géologique façonnée par la rivière Tarn.

En effet, le Tarn fait ici une boucle de 3 kilomètres autour d'un promontoire schisteux avant de revenir sur ses pas créant ainsi une presqu'île unique, classée depuis 1948. La séparation des 2 rives du Tarn entre lit supérieur et lit inférieur, au niveau de l'isthme mesure une quinzaine de mètres à peine, ce qui en fait l'isthme le plus étroit d'Europe.

Le petit village qui porte encore les traces d’un passé prestigieux s'étire tout le long de l'isthme. On distingue deux parties du village, Ambialet-le-bas au pied du prieuré et Ambialet-le-haut à la naissance du méandre. En 2018, le village d’Ambialet a été le premier du Tarn à recevoir la distinction de Petite Cité de Caractère.

Le toponyme d'Ambialet, en latin "Ambiletum", en langue d'Oc "Ambileto", semble tirer son origine du latin "ambi", autour de, et du gaulois "leto", flux, marée, et peut donc se traduire par " courant qui tourne autour".

Les lieux à visiter sont nombreux : le château ruiné ‘’Saint-Raphaël’’ ou ‘’Castella’’, l’église Notre-Dame de la Capelle, la centrale hydro-électrique, la porte de Lalmière, l’église Saint-Gilles, la croix du Roc Saint-Jean, le Chemin de Croix, le Prieuré et Notre-Dame de l’Oder, …

Cette cache virtuelle 3.0 propose de vous faire profiter de la magnifique vue sur le méandre et la vallée qui s’offre au visiteur en empruntant le Chemin de Croix menant au Prieuré. Il faudra fournir une photographie du point de vue prise depuis l’esplanade de Notre-Dame de l’Oder (point final). Mais avant, il faut relever un indice au point 01 qui se situe à la porte de Lalmière. Cette porte qui donne sur la chaussée traversant le Tarn et qui fait communiquer le côté aval avec le côté amont est dotée d’une imposante porte étanche électrique. L’observation des pièces métalliques doit permettre de répondre à la question : Quel est le nom de la ville d'où proviennent les rails-guide de la porte étanche ?

Ambialet is the site of geological curiosity shaped by the Tarn River.

Indeed, the Tarn makes here a loop of 3 kilometers around a schist promontory before going back on its steps thus creating a unique peninsula, classified since 1948. The separation of the two banks of the Tarn between the upper and lower beds, at the level of the isthmus, barely measures fifteen meters, which makes it the narrowest isthmus in Europe.

The small village that still bears the traces of a prestigious past stretches all along the isthmus. There are two parts of the village, Ambialet-le-bas at the foot of the priory and Ambialet-le-haut at the birth of the meander. In 2018, the village of Ambialet was the first of the Tarn to receive the distinction of Petite Cité de Caractère.

The toponym of Ambialet, in Latin "Ambiletum", in the language of Oc "Ambileto", seems to derive its origin from the Latin "ambi", around, and from the Gallic "leto", flow, tide, and can therefore translate into "current that revolves around".

There are many places to visit: the ruined castle ‘Saint-Raphaël’ or ‘Castella’, the church of Notre-Dame de la Capelle, the hydro-electric power plant, the Gate of Lalmière, the church of Saint-Gilles, the cross of the Roc Saint-Jean, the Stations of the Cross, the Priory and Notre-Dame de l’Oder, …    
The Adventure Lab ‘’Ambialet’’ (to be done in parallel with this cache) makes you discover some of them.

This virtual cache 3.0 offers you to enjoy the magnificent view of the meander and the valley that is offered to the visitor by taking the Stations of the Cross leading to the Priory. A photograph of the point of view taken from the esplanade of Notre-Dame de l'Oder must be provided (final point). But first, there is a clue at point 01, which is located at the Gate of Lalmière. This door, which opens onto the road crossing the Tarn and makes the downstream side communicate with the upstream side, is equipped with a large electric watertight door. Observing the metal parts should help answer the question: What is the name of the city where the guide rails of the watertight door come from?

To validate this virtual cache 3.0, you will therefore have to fulfill 2 conditions:

1/ Physically go to the coordinates of Point 01. Find the information and check with the “Certitude” tool the accuracy of the name of the city you are looking for (Point 01 clue) to obtain a bonus image. Or you can alternatively send me this name directly via geocaching.com (Message Center) or via the mail features of my profile.
Warning! Do not include the clue value directly in your log. I will have to delete it.

You can validate your puzzle solution with certitude.

2/ Physically go to the coordinates of the Final Point. Take a photograph from this characteristic point of view where we inevitably see the hydro-electric plant surrounded by the two arms of the Tarn with Notre-Dame de la Capelle in the background. You must attach this photograph to your log. Please do not send it by email or message center.

Nota bene: The 2 conditions are independent but if these 2 conditions are not respected, the discovery cannot be validated and the corresponding log will be deleted!

If you push the audacity to go to the waypoint "Vue extra !" (Extra view!) at the end of the rocks you can enjoy the best view possible. In addition, a geocache is located nearby! Access is from the Romanesque chapel of Notre-Dame de l'Oder, bypassing the cemetery. Beware! In case of rain or humidity, be extremely careful as the ground can be very slippery.
