SP500 has once again assembled his New Year Day kayaking event. This will be the eleventh installment of the 'Shiver on the River'. The posted coordinates will bring you to the pull-out spot. This is the boat ramp located at Pier 33 Restaurant. We will be assembling here, just up the hill near the entrance at 12:00 p.m. We will stage a few vehicles, and then make the short drive over to the Launch Site. Leo and Kay Forster have once again generously allowed us to park a few vehicles at their home and launch from their back yard on the Cheboygan River. Their home is located at 8212 E. Foote Road, Cheboygan (see child way point above).
From there, we will paddle back to the pull-out (posted coordinates / staging area). The river has a good current, so it is a gentle paddle with little effort required. The river is also wide and obstacle free. To date, nobody has gone swimming. The river is very clear and offers some good underwater viewing. Plan on about a 1.25 hour paddle.
Afterward, up the hill from the pull out site, we plan to have lunch at Pier 33 restaurant (other posted child way point above). Here is a link to their menu: Pier 33 Menu
Either before, or after lunch we can shuttle people back to their vehicles at the launch point.
