Eleventh time is the charm?
My wife is a Fredericksburg native and we try to get to town a couple of time's a year to visit with her family, but we are always here for Thanksgiving, except last year. We really hated not getting to see everyone and our family last year, so we are hoping for happier days to kick off this holiday season. Since 2003, we have been sneaking off of from home to cache in the area. Through geocaching we have discovered many great locations around town through the years and I feel that the local geocachers have really given us a great education on many of the hidden treasures Fredericksburg has to offer, from the parks to the trails to the awesome frozen custard. Although, we were lucky enough to meet some of you when we hosted GeoWoodstock VII many years ago, at the Geocaching Hampton Roads Megas and at this event over the last decade, we always look forward to meeting more folks from the Geocaching community. So, once again, Scoot, Liam and I decided to put this event together in hopes that we could spend some time with our friends in the local geocaching community, maybe meet some new folks and offer our thanks in person, plus it gives us another opportunity to show off our littlest cacher who, to be fair, is now 11 and bigger than half the folks attending.
Whether you are a long time cacher or have just started, a local or passing through on your way to visit your family for the holidays, we ask that you please come on down and join us for a meet and greet in historic Fredericksburg, just minutes off I-95 for you travelers. The kind folks at the local mall on Route 3 have agreed to let us use their food court to get together and tell some stories about geocaching and get to know each other a little better. We will kick things off around 6:30 and be there till at least 7:00 although we often gowell over on time.
We look forward to getting to know you better, if there are any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact me directly. We would ask that you please RSVP via a "will attend" to the cache page.
Masks are not curently required in common areas of the mall, although some shops may have different policies. Obvioulsy, we will follow all Covid protocols in place at the time of the event and do our best to look out for ourselves and each other. We will have plenty of space to social distance and all attendees are encouraged to do so. Per Virginia Department of Health recommnedations we ask that you stay home if you have been exposd to someone with Covid-19 in the previous 14 days or if you are feeling ill or have a fever. I will update the page if there are any changes to the Spotsylvania Town Centre policy the week of the event, so everyone knows what to expect.
