Geocache Description:

10 October 2021, 15:00 - 16:30

This is my first event cache, and inspired by the success of our beach litter pick for the locationless cache GC8NEAT,  a litter pick on the beach at East Clacton seemed like a good idea. The holiday makers will all have left, and unfortunately will not have left the beach tidy and free from rubbish.

If you haven't already logged it you can take a photo while you are there and claim the GC8NEAT locationless cache and earn a souvenir too.

The aim of this CITO is to walk the beach from the start point towards the pier picking up litter as we go. I will be providing bags, and another local geocacher who runs a local litter picking group will be able to provide some litter pickers and bag hoops, but if you have your own please do bring them.

Disposable gloves, hand sanitiser and wipes will be provided, but as discarded litter on the beach may include the odd bit of fishing tackle, and occasionally broken glass, care will need to be taken. If you feel that more substantial gloves would be more to your liking, please bring them along.

Arrangements will be made for all collected litter to be picked up by the local authority so you will not be expected to take it home with you.

There are beach cafe's at the start point and the mid point of the intended route, so limited refreshments will be available en-route, but we will be bringing some cake, as we believe that cake is an essential part of the geocaching experience, especially home made cake, so any bakers amongst you feel free to bring cake along.

At this time of year parking along the seafront will be plentiful and free (There are some pay and display spaces close by, but avoid them as there will be free parking very close to the start point).
