Geocache Description:

22 September 2021, 08:00 - 09:00

GAGB 2021 CITO Week

This is just one of the many events to be be held across the UK, Ireland, Isle of Man and Channel Islands as part of the GAGB CITO Week.

Come along and earn a souvenir in the 2nd CITO season 2021.
CITO 2021, Season 2 (Wednesday, September 1 through Tuesday, November 30, 2021)

Bridgend: Industrial Estate
Wednesday 22nd September 2021, 8am - 9am

Location:

The Bridgend Industrial Estate comprises a large mixed use development comprising a number of large stand-alone industrial facilities, smaller estates, offices, development plots and a small ‘retail quarter’. In total the estate extends to an estimated 3 million sq ft of commercial accommodation on approximately 300 acres.

Please can we meet near the posted co-ords on the grassy area, at the bottom of Queens Road South.

CITO event:

Litter Pick event.
Time: 8am-9am, Wednesday 22nd September

The litter pick will concentrate on the roadside areas below Kingsway, the main thoroughfare through the Industrial Estate - particularly in a (roughly) rectangular area between Gate Road, Cheapside and South Road.
Having visited today I can confirm there is plenty of rubbish along this area, and we could make a big difference in the short amount of time we are there.

Due to the early start of this event and the fact it is midweek I do not expect many to attend, but it may offer a chance for FT employees to manage a pre-work CITO and to get their official geocaching.com Cito Season 2 souvenir.
Litter pickers and hoops will be provided. Please provide your own gloves if desired.

Credits:
Litter picking equipment has been supplied by "Keep Wales Tidy" (Maria Toogood)
Further equipment loaned by Llantrisant Community Council (Alison Jenkins)
Further equipment loaned by Cambrian Village Trust - Outdoor Activity Provision.(Gavin McAuley)
Litter gathered will be collected by myself and delivered to Brymenyn Household Amenity Site/ Recycling Centre after the event, in conjunction with Bridgend Borough County Council.

Parking:

There is free roadside parking along Gate Road, Cheapside Road, Queens Road and South Road - please park sensibly.

Accessibility:

Please note:
*This litter pick will be along the roadside of an industrial estate, and therefore may *not* be suitable for children and/or dogs.

I have marked this CITO as *not* wheelchar/ buggy friendly as most pavements on the industrial estate do not have a drop-kerb.

Hope to see you there!

Please Note

There is an event scheduled for 915am - 1015am nearby (see below), however there is no requirement to attend both events.

If you are planning to attend the event afterwards (GC9FGGY - Wednesday Wakey Wakey @ Bridgend Indl Estate) please can you log a WA so we have an idea of numbers for the venue. Many thanks

The GAGB

The Geocaching Association of Great Britain (GAGB). The Association was established in 2003 to provide a national geocaching organisation and serve as a UK point of contact for geocachers, landowners, the media and others with an interest in geocaching.

As part of its 10th anniversary, it was decided to hold a CITO weekend in September which has now become an annual event. This later evolved into a full CITO Week, with the first one being held in September 2019. It would be great to see more of these icons pop up across the country and for other members to hold their own events where it is not feasible to attend one that a committee member has organised.

There is a lot more information about what we do, including the landowner database, comprehensive event listings and Seeker e-magazine at www.gagb.org.ukIf you would like to get involved follow the link and find our contact details.

The GAGB are encouraging everyone to organise CITO events this weekend, in part to pay-back for what we hope will have been a great summer of caching, and also to make things more pleasant for future cachers. If this CITO is the nearest one to you, please come along!

More information could well be announced, so either keep watch on the listing or log your 'Will Attend' to make sure you receive the announcement logs.
