Parking is at the posted coordinates, in the lot next to the Gastonia Police Department.
As we near the end of the CITO 2021 Season 1 (ending August 31st), I wanted to be sure there was at least one local CITO opportunity for the Greater Charlotte area to get the CITO 2021 Season 1 souvenir. To that end, we'll be doing trash pickup along the Highland Rail Trail aka the Norfolk Southern Railroad Trail (whose south end is a few feet past this parking lot). If we have a big enough turnout, we may drop part of the team partway along the trail to divide & conquer.
I will provide trash bags & water bottles, and have a few extra pairs of gloves available first come, first serve. Please bring work gloves, although I will have a few backup pairs in case. I do not have any trash pickers, so please BYO if you want to utilize one. There is no need for safety vests, as we will not be working near the road (except to cross to the next section of trail). Please follow all local, state, and federal guidelines around COVID-19.

RAIN DELAY: If we get rained out by a heavy rain, the backup date will be August 21st, 8:00AM-9:30AM (note the earlier time). We will proceed the day of the 14th if there is a mild rain.
