Geocache Description:


The park gates are locked overnight.

The memorial was designed by local architect T C Howitt who also designed the Council House in Nottingham. It was unveiled on Sunday 3rd September 1922 by Brigadier General Sir JF Laycock KCMG DSO TD.

The memorial is Grade 2 listed (410910) and is made of portland stone, ashlar and sandstone paving. A rectangular base of 3 steps carries the cenotaph column. 4 truncated obelisks with bronze memorial plaques are positioned on each corner of the surrounding paved area.

The names of military personnel who died whilst serving their country are listed on the memorial with the most recent name being added in 2007.

To find the cache you need to answer the questions below and the cache can be found a short walk away.

Information can be found on the main plaque

A=Number of different surnames beginning with A

B= Number of letters in surname at top of column 3.

C=Number of people with surnames beginning with W

D= Number of people with surnames beginning with J

Information can be found the plaque on the back of the cenotaph.

E= Number of letters in 1st word on the 5th line.

F=3rd number that appears on the plaque.
