I have hidden a cache in New York City. I think this
is the first one, and I am hoping to get more folks to
hide more around NYC so we can have a kind of internal
NYC geocaching game. NYC is a great place to play
this game, lots of corners and hidden places to hide
things. New York city also seems to provide special
difficulty since tall buildings make it hard to get
the needed skyview. I have hidden a small plastic box
with some small toys in the northern section of
Riverside Park. It is hidden in the crux of 4 medium
size trees, covered in bark with two sticks forming an
"X". I am calling this NYC Alpha cache. Point and
follow to:
40.48.75 N 73. 57.89 W
or in seconds
40 48' 58" N 73 57' 29" W
This site has a difficulty of 2, you must walk from
the street through a wooded area with some downed
trees, some signs of squatters, and a popular dog
walking area. It is near a recreation area that is
well used. Enter from Riverside Drive somewhere in
the 120s, and for safety reasons (very fast cars) do
not walk near the 125th street exit ramp.
