A equipa Oildrops dá as boas vindas a todos os geocachers à vila da Golegã, capital do Cavalo.
A Golegã é uma vila portuguesa no Ribatejo, pertencente ao distrito de Santarém, o município com 84,32 km⊃2; de área e cerca de 5 913 habitantes (2011), está subdividido em 3 freguesias. O município é limitado a nordeste pelo município de Vila Nova da Barquinha, a leste e sueste pela Chamusca, a oeste por Santarém e a Noroeste por Torres Novas e pelo Entroncamento.
A Vila da Golegã é famosa pela Feira Nacional do Cavalo, que ocorre anualmente durante o mês de novembro.
O Brasão da Vila é um escudo de prata, com um ramo de cinco espigas de trigo verde, atadas com uma fita vermelha (representa a energia criadora e simboliza a força e a vida.). As três faixas ondadas de azul representação do Rio. A coroa mural é de quatro torres de prata (significa a riqueza e a humildade) e o listel é branco com a legenda VILA DA GOLEGÃ a negro.
A história deste concelho ribatejano está associada aos dois rios que o percorrem, o Almonda e o Tejo, que favorecem a fertilidade dos solos. As espigas representam a agricultura como uma das riquezas principais. Assim, de acordo com a história, a Golegã terá sido um povoado com origem numa estalagem estabelecida durante o reinado do rei D. Sancho I. Esta estalagem acolheria gente de passagem de Lisboa para o norte. Tudo leva a crer que a estalagem terá sido pertença de uma mulher da Galiza residente em Santarém, daí que o povoado se tenha chamado “Venda da Galega” e, mais tarde, Golegã.
O lugar da Golegã foi elevado à categoria de vila por carta de D. João III, decorria o ano de 1534.

Quem está de visita pela região não pode deixar de provar as inúmeras iguarias que este concelho tem ao dispor, nomeadamente sopa de feijão com carne, requentado, sopa de peixe, açorda de sável, caldeirada de feijão verde, bacalhau assado, ensopado de enguias, favas com azeite, trouxas de ovos, bolos de noiva e toureiros.

Golegã is a Portuguese village in Ribatejo, belonging to the district of Santarém, the municipality with an area of 84.32 km⊃2; and about 5,913 inhabitants (2011), is subdivided into 3 parishes. The Coat of Arms of the Village is a silver shield, with a branch of five ears of green wheat, tied with a red ribbon (representing creative energy and symbolizing strength and life.). The three wavy bands of blue represent the rivers. The mural crown has four silver towers (signifying wealth and humility) and the listel is white with the legend VILA DA GOLEGÃ in black.
The history of this Ribatejo county is associated with the two rivers that run through it, the Almonda and the Tagus, which favor soil fertility. Ears represent agriculture as one of the main assets. Thus, according to history, Golegã would have been a town with its origins in an inn established during the reign of King Sancho I. This inn would accommodate people passing through from Lisbon to the north. Everything suggests that the inn belonged to a woman from Galicia who lived in Santarém, hence the name of the village “Venda da Galega” and, later, Golegã.
The place of Golegã was elevated to the category of town by letter from D. João III, in 1534.
