A CRATERA DO CABEÇO DOS “30”
O Cabeço dos Trinta é uma elevação localizada na freguesia açoriana do Capelo, concelho da Horta, ilha do Faial, arquipélago dos Açores.
Este acidente geológico encontra-se geograficamente localizado próximo do Vulcão dos Capelinhos, ao Capelo e encontra-se intimamente relacionado com a elevação do Cabeço Verde do qual faz parte. Esta formação apresenta escorrimento pluvial para a costa marítima. Este pico localiza-se no alinhamento de cones de escórias vulcânicas que se localizam entre a Caldeira do Faial a Este e o Vulcão dos Capelinhos a Oeste. Neste alinhamento encontram-se ainda o Cabeço Gordo, Cabeço Verde, Pingarotes, Vulcão do Cabeço do Fogo e o Cabeço do Canto.
Para “encontrar/registar” esta cache deverá: provar que esteve no local e responder às seguintes questões, enviando uma mensagem de Geocaching, com as respostas (e colocando a sua foto no registo), em português ou em inglês, para o nosso perfil.
Só depois, de enviar as respostas, e conforme as “guidelines” para as Earthcaches, deverá efetuar o seu registo (colocando a sua foto)!
Serão removidos todos os registos que não obedeçam a estes requisitos.
Com base nas suas observações realizadas no local, procure responder às seguintes questões:
1) A partir do WP1 (localizado no centro da cratera), estime:
- a altura da “parede” da cratera”
- a altitude do “Cabeço dos 30”
- o perímetro da borda desta cratera
2) A “cratera” associada ao Cabeço dos “30” NÃO É DE IMPACTO!?Qual poderá ser a sua origem?
3) No centro da cratera existe uma construção “humana”! Qual o material geológico constituinte desta construção?
4) Deverá colocar no seu registo uma foto comprovativa da sua presença no local (junto à saída do túnel e entrada na cratera).
Em alternativa, poderá, colocar uma foto (no local referido anteriormente) de um papel/placa onde apareça o seu nick e a
a data da visita.

THE "30" HEAD CRATER
“Cabeço dos Trinta” is an elevation located in the Azorean parish of Capelo, Horta municipality, Faial island, Azores archipelago.
This geological accident is geographically located near the Capelinhos Volcano, to Capelo and is closely related to the elevation of the Cabeço Verde of which it forms part. This formation presents pluvial runoff to the maritime coast. This peak is located in the alignment of volcanic slag cones that are located between the Caldeira do Faial to the east and the Capelinhos volcano to the west. In this alignment there are also Cabeço Gordo, Cabeço Verde, Pingarotes, Cabeço do Fogo volcano and Cabeço do Canto.
To “find / register” this cache must: prove that you have been on site and answer the following questions, sending a Geocaching message, with the answers (and placing your photo in the register), in Portuguese or in English, for our profile .
Only after sending the answers, and according to the "guidelines" for Earthcaches, should you register (placing your photo)!
All records that do not meet these requirements will be removed.
Based on your observations made on the spot, try to answer the following questions:
1) From WP1 (located in the center of the crater), estimate:
- the height of the "wall" of the crater"
- the altitude of the “Cabeço dos 30”
- the perimeter of the rim of this crater
2) The “crater” associated with Cabeço dos “30” IS NO IMPACT!? What could be its origin?
3) In the center of the crater there is a “human” construction! What is the geological material that makes up this construction?
4) You must include in your record a photo showing your presence at the site (next to the tunnel exit and the entrance to the crater).
Alternatively, you can put a photo (in the place mentioned above) of a paper/board where your nickname and the date of the visit.
