해식동굴(Sea Cave)
이 동굴은 파도의 침식작용으로 만들어진 '해식동굴 입니다. 해식동굴은 바닷가에 있는 가파른 해안절벽의 약한 부분이나 틈을 오랜 시간동안 파도가 깎아 만들어집니다. 육지에 드러나 있는 이기대의 해식동굴은 과거에 해안절벽이 바다에 잠겨 있을 때 파도에 의해 침식되어 만들어진 후 땅이 솟아 오르면서(융기) 육지에 노출된 것입니다. 따라서 이기대의 해식동굴은 지각 융기의 증거가 됩니다.
The sea cave here was formed by the action of waves over a long period of time. This erosion gradually exposed week spots and gaps in the steep rock cliff. The presence of a sea cave that is above sea level, but was previously underwater indicates a sea-level fall or uplift.
돌개구멍(Marine Pothole)
이기대 주변 넓은 바위 위에는 다양한 크기의 둥근 웅덩이들이 있습니다. 이것은 바위의 틈에 있던 자갈이나 모래가 파도에 의해 회전하면서 오랜시간 바위의 틈을 깎아 만든 돌개구멍입니다. 돌개구멍을 들여다보면 그 속에 놓인 자갈들을 볼 수 있습니다. 그렇다면 돌개구멍속 자갈은 뾰족하게 각진 것일까요? 혹은 둥글까요?
On top of the wide rocks, potholes of various sizes were made by carving of gravels and sands by swirling of water in the gaps of rocks for a long time. The pebbles seen in potholes may make the holes bigger when the water makes swirling later on.

[How to log]
- What is the topography of the bottom around the sea caves at the cache zone? Did this(these) accelerate the process of sea cave formation? Why do you think so?
- The waves don't hit some sea caves even at high tide. Why?
- Can you observe the gravel(s) in the pothole at Stage 2? If yes, describe the shape of the gravel(s)! And why do you think gravel has that shape?
