Geocache Description:

About a 40 minute hike in the Wicklas ending in a good view.

There are many ways to approach the cache area. The peat hags suggest you bring good shoes, rain gear and OS map discovery series 56. You should never need to climb a fence without the aid of a gate/sty/similar. The following suggested route is one of many. It's aimed at drivers and cyclists. It'll take at least 40 mins from parking the car/bike to reaching the cache site. If you don't have a car/bike you might like to get out the OS map and plan a better bus/walking combo *GRIN*.

From Enniskerry head up the hill past the church and out along R760. After 1.5km you'll cross a bridge over the Dargle. Follow the road around to the right and up the hill. Ignore the right turn to the well know local attraction and follow the R760 for a 100meters or so and take the (next) right. You will now be going up. If you're on a bike just think what fun the return will be. Keep following this road and park in the car park at N53 08.10938' W06 11.55987'. From here head towards N53 08.01497'W06 11.72817'. There's a lot of tree cover around but use the clearings if you have to get a signal. From this point head up hill towards N53 08.42949' W06 12.99322' and then on towards N53 08.77190' W06 13.12612'. Stop at this landmark and get a bearing on the next waypoint. You'll be travelling under thick tree cover and you'll not get a signal until you reach the point N53 08.76121' W06 12.86475'. This marks the location of a sign and following its instruction will make getting to the cache location a lot easier. So head straight there. Carefull the terrain is rough and you are on a steep incline. In summer it's pretty overgrown. You might get very close to some deer (within about 5 meters last time the peat hags were there) and if you're very unlucky the killer midgies the peat hags have guarding this site.
