This geocache is placed with permission of the Park Manager of Fairy Stone State Park. It is one of the original six Virginia State Parks opening June 15, 1936. With 4,741 acres and 168 acre lake adjoining the Philpott Reservoir, Fairy Stone State Park is a great location for swimming, fishing, hiking, picnics, camping, wildlife viewing and of course geocaching. Fairy Stone State Park is located at 967 Fairystone Lake Drive, Stuart, Virginia. There is a fee for park entry.
A bench with a view.....just getting to sit, kick back, breathe in some fresh air and enjoy the scenery. This location offers a view the lake of Fairy Stone from a different angle and a appreciation of the magnitude of this body of water and all it has to offer. This particular spot is frequently busy during warm months for people to put their electric trolling motor boats into the water. Gas powered boats are prohibited on these waters of Fairy Stone State Park. Prehaps you might want to get your rowboats, paddleboats, stand-up paddleboards, kayaks or canoes into the water for a wonderful time. Don't forget your life jackets. Please refer to regulations regarding use of the lake set by the Virginia State Park system.
Parking in this area is limited, so if you are just stopping by to grab this geocache, please relocate your vehicle to another parking lot of Fairy Stone when you are finished. This should be a quick find, but you will need to bring your own writing instrument to sign the log. Please replace as found with a good seal to help keep things nice and dry.
