Welcome to Lynnville Park and Campground. It was established in 1964 when Peabody Coal Company deeded 1100 acres of strip mined land and lakes to the town of Lynnville for use as a water supply and for recreational purposes. Although the town no longer uses the275 acre lake for its water supply, the recreational use is abundant.
We will meet at the posted coordinates at the boat ramp at 9:00 am Central time and last about 30 minutes and sign the log book. Then set off on our journey for a few hours of fun. We will be paddling the westside of the lake. Part 2, the eastside event, will be at a later date.
If you don't have a boat, kayak, or canoe, you are still more than welcome to show up and sign the log book.
They do have 6 kayaks for rent. First come first serve. I believe they are $5.00/HR. But you might be able to call ahead and reserve one if you're interested.
There is a $3.00 entrance fee per boat into the park. If you'll be using a motor or trolling motor, you MUST have it registered. You'll also need an approved life vest for any of your watercrafts.
Camping is available. They have:
24 - Full Hookup sites - $30.00 / night
16 - Water & Electric sites - $25.00 / night
22 - Primitive sites - $20.00 / night
They also have a dump station, bath house, bait, ice, firewood, an observatory, and the Coal Museum on site.
For anyone wanting to camp, Please call ahead and make reservations at 812-922-5144.
This should be a great time. Hope to see everyone there!
