I’ve been an avid reader for as long as I can remember. My sister and I would pass a Nancy Drew or Bobbsey Twins book back and forth from top bunk to bottom--with a flashlight--to read aloud when we were supposed to be sleeping. During the day we read on our own--the Little House on the Prairie series and everything by Judy Blume. As teens, it was all about whatever Stephen King was writing. As an adult, work and night school kept me busy, but I found time here and there to read Robert Ludlum or Clive Barker. With a lifelong love of books and reading, it’s not surprising that I ended up becoming a librarian (although the common misconceptions that it’s always quiet and I get to read all day are absolutely not true, and I’ve never Shhhhed anyone, so there). Being surrounded by books all day can be a bit of an occupational hazard as far as the length of my to-read list is concerned, but when I'm working at the reference desk, this cache's title is one of my favorite questions to be asked. The photo below shows a stack of some of my favorite books that I’ve read since I became a librarian 20+ years ago.
Secret Places by Bruce Kershner was my introduction to cool places in the area way before geocaching started taking me to them (Chimney Bluffs, for example). The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time by Mark Haddon is outstanding as an audiobook, and I’m not sure I’d have enjoyed it nearly as much if I hadn’t listened to it first (Seriously, everyone who happened to be a passenger in my car during the days that I was listening to it asked me to please let them know how things turned out for Christopher). When you finish reading When You Reach Me by Rebecca Stead, I can almost guarantee you will immediately start reading it a second time (I won't tell you why--that would ruin it). Stephen King’s On Writing is another favorite as an audiobook. And this paragraph is relevant to the puzzle if it saved you from having to Google some information that may not be visible in the photograph.
