There are frequently people around as this is a good eagle viewing
spot, be casual when searching.
Just down the road to the west from the parking area is a point of
interest sign, there is a little pullout on the westbound side,
talking about the record cold temperature here. The lowest
temperature ever recorded in the contiguous 48 States, -69.7
degrees - rounded off to minus 70 degrees - was observed here on
Jan. 20, 1954. It is worth noting that the equipment used to record
that temperature was unable to measure any lower so the actual
temperature may have been much colder.
Coordinates were checked multiple times approaching from different
directions with 9 satellites locked and an error radius of
16ft.
NOTE: Make sure to sign the cache logbook, as online "Found
It" logs without a corresponding entry in the logbook will be
deleted. We wouldn't want any "cheaters" now would we.
