Geocache Description:

Welcome to Kilowatt Park in Wilder, Vermont

We discovered this small but beautiful facility when we moved to the area several months ago.

There are North and South natural trails, running along the Connecticut River, where this series of 10 caches is placed. It is just over a mile from the first cache to the last. The park also has picnic tables, barbecue stands, fishing access, a boat launch, dog walking and loose running areas, a large athletic field, splendid views of the river and a nice view of the Wilder Dam. So come and spend some time here.

This series is placed in honor of some of our fellow Geocachers from Vermont, New York, and Massachusetts, who we love and admire for their enthusiasm, dedication, helpfulness, and interest in promoting this hobby for all to enjoy.  More caches to be added when we can.

We hope this series will encourage you to come here and also encourage our friends to venture a bit North and/or East for a new adventure in the Upper Valley.

Parking:

1. There is plentiful parking at the Kilowatt Picnic Area and Trails lot at 325 Gillette Street (N43° 40.706' W72° 18.218').  That is where the North and South Trails meet.

2. There is a large parking lot at the southern end of the Southern Trail, overlooking the Wilder Dam.  It is at the end of Wilder Dam Road (N43° 40.114' W72° 18.300').

3. There is parking at the boat launch, which is at the mid-point of the Southern trail (N43° 40.476' W72° 18.192').  You can access the road to the boat launch and trail from Passumpsic Avenue.  The gate is not open all of the time, but there are a few parking spots at the gate (N43° 40.410' W72° 18.329').  It is a 400' walk down the road from that parking area.  Please do not block access.

(We were given permission to place these caches by the Hartford Town Parks and Recreation Department.)
