The President's Day holiday is set between George Washington's birthday on Feb 22 and Abraham Lincoln's birthday on Feb 12, but February 15 is Susan B. Anthony's actual birthday.
Meet caching friends old and new at Carderock Park. Let's enjoy a daylight gathering. This is an outdoor event, dress warmly for the weather. You may want to bring a folding chair to make distanced conversation easier. We will observe all Maryland COVID-19 recommendations. Masks are required while being in a group but are optional on the trails. The host will bring a supply of masks.
Host will provide snacks and hot drinks at the Pavillion. These are individually wrapped or packaged and are picked up like a takeout item.
We will have a log fire to warm up on a chllly day.
At Carderock you can take a leisurely walk along a river front trail or scale cliffs With the leaves down, spectacular views of the river can be seen from the field picnic area itself.
Hoping to see lots of cachers from Virginia. This is as close as you can get to the Maryland border. Super easy, just across the river from Virginia. Get in the right lane on the American Legion bridge, take exit and then go left at the Y. Carderock is the first exit. There is plenty of free parking.
In the area there are a number of relatively new caches, and a new one will be published at the event.
