Go back in time at the John Jay French Museum, one of the oldest surviving homes in Beaumont. Built in the early 1800s, it’s not only one of the first houses in the area but one of the first two story houses in the area that showcases the life of a pioneering Texas family. Take time to wander around as the historic homestead has a tannery, blacksmith shop and smokehouse on premise. In the summer, they host Camp Lookinback which teaches kids hands-on frontier activities, games and cooking techniques.
