The above coordinates are bogus, but very close to an arrastra. I know of two, the other is about 10 miles from this one depending on the route.
An arrastra is a crude but effective tool used to extract gold from gold bearing ore - usually gold bearing quartz. Simply put, an arrestra is a grinder. Sizes varied but all had one thing in common, a flat round rock base, and some means of crushing the ore. Usually it was one of two methods. Heavy rocks drug over the ore, or heavy wheels rotating over the ore. With either method, the crushing implements were attached to arms from a central post, which was powered by hand, donkey, mule, horse, or water. Water being the prefered method.
A simple explanation of how it works is: The ore is crushed into a powder, quicksilver is added and the gold amalgamated with it. Before grinding is completed, water is added. Gold being heavey, it collects in the slits that are cut in the base to collect the amalgamation. When enough was collected, the amalgamation is removed, and the gold is panned out of the amalgamation.
To log this cache, find an arrastra and photograph it. If you can find any information on where or when it was used, please include it in your log entry.

No old vacation photos, Internet searches or "modified" pictures. I will question logs or pictures that don't look right, and delete obvious rip-offs.
