Geocache Description:

Located near the Lake Minchumina, Alaska airfield, this cache is reachable only by airplane or a long boat trip.

While searching for this cache, you will be treated to one of the finer views of the north face of Denali (Mt. McKinley) and Mt. Foraker if the weather is cooperative. Lake Minchumina is a one-hour plus flight from Fairbanks (150 miles bearing 215 degrees magnetic) via small airplane (ours is a Piper Cherokee 140), or a several day boat trip from Fairbanks. The lake has excellent camping spots near the airfield (watch for moose on the runway!), and the Pike fishing is legendary.

The cache contains an oil spill test ball (a legacy of the Exxon Valdez oil spill), several Fairbanks Ice Art pins, a couple of plastic dinosaurs from caches we found in Alberta, and a small flashlight. Nothing much, but the surrounding scenery is the main thing!
