Delaware County Nights-An After Sunset Affair Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

RoyalRed: This cache had a nice run. Thanks to all who took the time to visit and congrats to Redtailforester for being the LTF (Last To Find). Area could be ripe for a new cache but future hiders beware...GPS reception can be tricky down in the valley for some reason.

Again thanks to all and Happy Holidays!

THIS IS A NIGHT ONLY CACHE! YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO LOCATE THIS CACHE DURING DAYLIGHT HOURS.
Before taking on this cache you need to review the below stated issues:

1. You WILL need a good flashlight in order to complete this cache.

2. Cache will involve a 1+ mile round trip hike.

3. Coordinates are for the parking location.

4. During rainy weather parts of the trail may be submerged and impassable. Most of the trail will be muddy during any weather type (except for extreme drought).

5. During cold weather parts of the trail may be ice covered.

6. Even though this cache is located around highly developed areas it is VERY DARK with little evidence of civilization in the area at night.

7. This cache was set up in winter and would best attempted when vegitation cover is low.

Now that those issues are stated here's the info:

Once in the parking location you will follow very small reflective markers along Darlington Trail. Trail is very well defined and marked so the initial 1/4 - 1/3 mile of the trail will have very limited reflectors. This has been done to limit the exposure of reflectors to non-cachers who may take them or follow them to the cache. Unlike other night-time caches do not expect all reflectors to be at eye-level. Do not expect that you will be able to see the next reflector from the one you are currently at when on the trail.

Follow trail and reflectors along creek. Reflectors are very sensitive to the angle of which the light hits them so it is suggested that you sweep your flashlight in order to find them.

Once you find dual pyramid-shaped reflectors on the Rocky Run Trail (Darlington Trail will dump you into Rocky Run Trail if you take the correct route) the route to the cache will leave the trail. You now need to follow the reflectors up the hill.

The cache location is marked by orange reflectors in a triangular shape with a white reflector in the center of the triangle. Cache is within 10-feet of this marking.

Once you have found the cache you can follow the reflectors back to the trail and the parking location.

Have fun and don't get lost or let the creatures of the night get you!!!!!

Cache Info Update. Thanks to ODragon for this update. Another cache Geocache by Ed S. (GC68F) is located not very far off the trail to this cache. If you turn off the main path of the night cache at N39 54.182 W075 27.822 you can reach Geocache on your return trip. Thanks again for the information and coordinates odragon!

SUMMER UPDATE

Difficulty is increased during months with heavy vegitation. Some of the reflectors will be obscured by leaves and branches. The trails are very well defined so if you follow the clues the lack of reflectors may not prevent you finding the cache! Good Luck!
