It's Our Fault Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

Michael: The Corps of Engineers at Tuttle Creek Lake, Kansas recently learned of an incident regarding a geocache found by an innocent member of the public, who was concerned enough about an ammo can stashed in a public park to alert law enforcement officials. We therefore reviewed the inventory of sites at Tuttle Creek Lake, and we have concerns with four:
1. It's Our Fault, GC92AC: situated in a hazardous area, in an ammo can.
2. Stockdale View, GCKBPP: ammo can
3. Old Tuttle Road, GCN5QD: blackened container
4. Tuttle Creek ORV, GCGN1R: ammo can.
Corps policy mandates that caches be preapproved by the agency. Containers must be transparent, and cannot be placed in potentially hazardous locales. We would request that these caches be removed and the owners get in contact with us. Thank you.

Geocache Description:

This cache requires a short hike but a steep climb (for Kansas). Hiking boots are definitely recommended. This cache is not recommended for small children or the faint of heart.

Cache is a standard camo-painted ammo box and is located directly on an inactive fault line near Tuttle Creek Dam.

The Tuttle Creek spillway fault system displaces alternating beds of limestone and mudstone deposited some 280 million years ago in a shallow fluctuating sea that existed here during the early part of the Permian Period. The age of the faulting is uncertain. Markers at the top and bottom of the spillway wall (Which you'll be climbing) identify the principal fault. The mostly east-west fault can be identified for a distance of eleven miles.
