Geocache Description:

21 November 2020, 11:00 - 14:00

Knob Hopping is defined as hiking in the knobs area from one top to additional tops ( Peaks ). We will pick up litter and pull any invasive spieces we come across starting at Pointy Knob over to Chimney Rock and then back to the car. The hike will be around 8 miles total, but varies depending on our return route. There are two trails accessing this area. We will start on the Pointy Knob Trail and return ??? (which ever trail the group decides on).

The CITO Event begins when we reach the summit of Pointy Knob, estimating around 11:00am and officially ends at 2:00 pm but for those of you who haven't been to one of my events, I don't tend to do the same old same old. So The event starts at 10:58 and ends at 2:04pm or when we reach the cars.  Please log Will Attend if you plan to come so you will get event announcements as we get closer to this day. If say the Loop Rd is closed or something odd like that happens, The starting cords will change and this may be your only chance to find this out. So LOG YOUR WILL ATTEND! Phone service is very spotty if it exists at all. If you want to hike with me to the event, plan to arrive 8:46am as I will leave parking at 9:02am SHARP!

I will provide bags. Please bring your own gloves and grabber tools if you want them.

Suggestions- Bring food and drinks. I don't believe there is water available on our route. Bring a wind breaker ( Knob or mountain tops can be very windy ), Rain gear ( depends on the forecast ), Micro Spikes (in case of icy trail conditions), Camera, Dress for off trail hiking ( sections of this hike will be off trail as trails don't exist to the top ) machette optional, I will have mine unless I forget it. Please wear Hunter Orange visible from all sides of your body. Hunters don't always stick to hunting areas, so this is your best defense against arrows or worse. We don't want to visit WV Cachers at his office. Maybe he will be here with his tool bag. LOL

This should be a nice hike to start your Thanksgiving Week.

I made this a 5 terrain due to the unknown trail conditions on event day. If its icy or snow, it will be correct. If its dry and 60˚, It might be a 4 terrain.

We are considering Monthly hiking events in the area through out winter and maybe beyond, so stay tuned.
