For this cache you first have to explore a small and quiet French village. The history of this village goes back to 812. On your way you will gather sufficient information to determine the co-ordinates of the cache. A nice walk of about 2 km (one way) along fields and vineyards, through woods and with scenic views will bring you to the cache. There you can enjoy your picnic!
A good starting point is N 43° 19.489, E 002° 44.255 where you can park your car.
You have to find waypoints 1 to 8 and answer some questions. With this information you can determine the co-ordinates of waypoints 9 and 10. The order in which the first 8 waypoints are given is random: please create your own favourite tour. The distance between any two of these waypoints is at most 370 m.
Notes:
- It is not necessary to cross vineyards or trespass private property.
- In the village the EPE will sometimes be weak
Waypoint 1: N43° 19.554, E 002° 44.273
Find the year on which you can stand.
Waypoint 2: N43° 19.478, E 002° 44.222
Name of the French city on the metal construction which covers a water tap.
Waypoint 3: N43° 19.448, E 002° 44.191
On which date was the access forbidden by municipal law?
Waypoint 4: N 43° 19.513, E 002° 44.241
You need the number of lions you find here.
Waypoint 5: N 43° 19.359, E 002° 44.235
What is the number of birds that stay on top of this monument?
Waypoint 6: N 43° 19.368, E 002° 44.233
Determine the number of animals on the coat of arms (including the unicorns).
Waypoint 7: N 43° 19.478, E 002° 44.267
You need the two years on this object.
Waypoint 8: N 43° 19.480, E 002° 44.280
What is the year on this building?
Now you can determine the co-ordinates of waypoints 9 and 10:
ab = the first two digits of the year of waypoint 1
c = the number of waypoint 6
d = the second digit of the second year of waypoint 7
e = the month of waypoint 3
f = fourth digit of the year of waypoint 1
g = the number of waypoint 6
h = number of letters of the French city of waypoint 2 minus 1
ij = the last two digits of waypoint 8 minus 1
kl = the day of waypoint 3
m = the fourth digit of the second year of waypoint 7
n = m
o = the number of waypoint 4
p = f
q = the third digit of waypoint 8
r = the sum of the numbers of waypoints 4 and 5
s = the number of waypoint 5
t = the third digit of the year of waypoint 3
Check: a+b+c+d+e+f+g+h+i+j+k+l+m+n+o+p+q+r+s+t=101
Waypoint 9: N 43° ab.cde, E 002° fg.hij
Waypoint 10: N 43° kl.mno, E 002° pq.rst
Go to waypoint 9. Here you will find the road/track to your final destination (waypoint 10). If you have to choose: choose right! You should follow the main road/track until you are about 170m away from the cache.
You will find the cache 10 steps south/south west of waypoint 10.
Please write something in the log book. The cache contains a number of animal items. Take one and leave one if you want.
Enjoy your picnic!
