Geocache Description:

16 January 2021, 09:30 - 11:30

There are many different types of geocaching milestones. This week I notched up another milestone: 1000 days since finding my first geocache. So I thought it's about time I hosted my first geocaching event and what better way than with a Community Celebration Event because it's the community that really adds to the enjoyment of geocaching. Please share your favourite milestones in your log and/or at the event.

Here's some example milestones:

  • 100, 1000 or 10000 caches found
  • Geocaches logged in different countries
  • Highest cache found
  • Lowest cache found
  • Highest tree climb
  • Completed the D/T matrix
  • Completed the Jasmer challenge
  • Completed the caches placed calendar
  • Longest streak
  • Longest slump
  • Most caches in a single day
  • Hiding 200 or more caches
  • Hosting 30 or more events
  • Owning a cache with 100 or more favourite points
  • Logging 500 or more challenge caches
  • Collecting 300 or more FTFs
  • Discovering 1800 or more trackables

Group photo at 10am and then take advantage of the morning to go hunting geocaches in the Molonglo River Reserve nearby.

This is an outside event and the ACT COVID-19 guidelines will be followed. Hand sanitiser will be available and social distancing is required.

Set among the growing suburbs of Coombs and Wright, the Molonglo River Reserve comprises 1280 hectares and extends 23 kilometres along the Molonglo River from Scrivener Dam to the Murrumbidgee River Corridor Reserve. This area contains some of Canberra’s best river landscapes and is home to a wide range of native plants and animals, including the endangered Pink-tailed Worm-lizard, Superb Parrot and Box-gum Grassy Woodland habitat. It's also got a few geocaches hidden along the way.
