Geocache Description:

This collection of caches has nothing to do with the Church Micro series in the UK. Given that the Australian 2016 census indicates that No Religion and Jedi Knight are the fastest increasing classifications of the optional religion question "What is the person's religion?" it is not surprising that there is surfeit of empty churches that have been repurposed.

"The origins of the congregation at Cheltenham are a bit unusual and certainly interesting." This was the opening line from the authority contacted when trying to get some history about the previous St Johns Lutheran Church Hall. There doesn't appear to be a foundation stone !

Traditional online research revealed very little about this odd building.  And here comes some useful information and maybe a TOTT or two. To find the name, an old State directory had to be located to search the address.  Then the old newspapers revealed little other than a joint wedding reception of two sisters in 1954, both being married elsewhere in the City at 5 pm and then at 7 pm, finishing off with one reception at "St Johns Lutheran Church HALL"

A search of online photos eventually uncovered a WW2 Honour Board, which was moved to Albert Park Lutheran when the church was sold. It appears to have been sold as a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom home in 1996 for $125000 then again in 1999 for $215000, sadly these were too early to have online images to have a sneaky look around.  Can't help but wonder about the current use of the towers....  happy hour overlooking the new wetlands maybe?

This is not the only church placed on this site!  The current brick building seems to have been erected in the early 1960s, with the previous hall being dedicated on 13/7/1947. But that is going to be another story, its a beauty too, and a mystery cache in the making!

To find the cache for this current building you will need to locate the 4 digit number written in black on the nearest stobie pole  (to the left if facing ex church), read through the cache listing, and also check out the Cache Images.. After this, do some calculations and then a short wander to find the micro cache within its host, take care with the busy road please.

A =add together the 2nd and 3rd digit on the stobie pole

B = the number of brides that shared their reception, multiplied by 2.

C= the second black digit on the stobie outside the ex-church minus 2.

D= the number of names on the left hand side of the honour board

E= the last black digit on the stobie pole outside the ex-church hall

F= the number of towers minus 1.

Decimal Minutes Checksums = 17 + 16 =33
