Mitino District
Located in the north-western outskirts of Moscow, the original village of Mitino merged into the city in 1985.
The emblem of the Mitino district reflects the historical and natural features of the area. The emblem consists of two parts: upper and lower. In the upper part of the red color there is an image of an old golden boat under sail on wheels. The rivers flowing through the territory of the present Mitino districtwere reliable routes for trade caravans. Through these lands there was a path from West to East. Merchants have settled on these hills since antiquity, long before Moscow appeared. At the mouth of the Baryshikha, trade caravans made an ascent to the Klyazma valley . It is known that Russian merchants put "boats under sail" on wheels and "dragged" them along the watershed from one river to another. Thus, in the XIII-XIV centuries, a land route passed here - a portage between the Klyazma River and the Moskva River. Also, the historical source for the image of the boat on the coat of arms is the chronicle story about the campaign of Prince Oleg to Constantinople , which says that the Byzantines were amazed by the sight of the ships of Russia, put on wheels and with open sails moving overland to the walls of the city. In the lower part, against a green background, there is an image of an oak leaf, which has a golden color, which reflects the presence of an ancient natural oak forest located near the Baryshikha river , and corresponds to the toponymic features of the area: Dubravnaya street , river and Baryshikha street.
