Geocache Description:

The cache is a magnetic micro.  Please bring a pen, and something to extract the log.

London surprises you with the occasional oasis of calm, amongst the hustle and bustle.  Hopton's Almshouses are a great example.  They were built in 1730 under the will of Charles Hopton (1654-1731).  Hopton was born into a wealthy merchant family and admitted as a child to the Guild of Fishmongers. His will provided for almshouses to be built in the parish of Christchurch, Blackfrars, for poor, single men. By 1749, 26 cottages had been completed on this land, and have been occupied continuously since July 1752.  These almshouses are now occupied by couples, after modernisation in 1988.
