The COVID-19 pandemic persists as history-in-the-making for the unknown future. For the United States, Washington State stood out in several instances and was put on the map. This series of geocaches display spotlights.
Washington State published the first iterations of its COVID-19 projections model on March 26, 2020 which were cited by the White House and news outlets. Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) at the University of Washington School of Medicine determines when COVID-19 would overwhelm health care systems’ ability to care for patients. Other models in other states were subsequently created.
Posted coordinates are in downtown Seattle, steps away from the IHME offices in the "2301" 5th & Bell Building. The cache is a tiny lurvig in a nearby public place. GPSr reception is difficult in this downtown area, so rely on hints. Access only during daylight.
9/01/2022 update: PLEASE DO NOT ENTER THE BELL BUILDING OR TOUCH AROUND THE OUTSIDES OF THE BUILDING; OWNERSHIP HAS NOTED THESE UNDESIRED ACTIVITIES AND ASKED THAT THEY CEASE. THANK YOU.
Congratulations to DM&K Cachers for FTF.
