Viborg Latiner Have

1. Memorial to, The Royal Land Survey of Viborg and Nørrejylland's Stænderforsamling in Viborg 1834-48 has been placed here on the grassy area north of the cathedral in 1906. This memorial is designed as a long nozzle. As you can see, it consists of thirty granite stones orbited at the foot of the mound, and in the center of the stone set a memorial stone for the court and the court house, the building which was located close to the cathedral's north wall, was demolished in 1871 for to create space around Viborg Cathedral.

2. In 1525 Hans Tausen came to town. From Gray Brothers graveyard he preached the thoughts of the Reformation for several years, to eventually become parish priest on the site in 1529. The Franciscans monks disappeared from the city after receiving harsh treatment from Hans Tausen and his followers. During Viborg's fire in 1726, the town's other churches burned, so the whole town held a service in Gray Brothers Church. In the 18th century, there had been too many churches in Viborg, and Gray Brothers Church was closed down. The last service was held on December 6, 1812, and the last remains of the church disappeared in 1830. Where the church was located, in 1836, a garden plant was inaugurated to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the Reformation with a memorial support for Hans Tausen

3. King Christian the III was in 1521 to hear Martin Luther and it made an impression on the king for the rest of his life, and the pious king wanted to mark the Gray Brothers Monastery in Viborg, and got there what we today call the King's chamber. In 1541, Gråbrødre Kloster is transformed into a hospital, ie. a home for the sick, old and poor. The hospital came into existence until 1950, and the hospital describes a very important corner of the history of Danish social care. The "hospital members" lived in dormitories and in 1739 "fool's coffins" were added - small, extremely primitive cells for the insane. In the mid-18th century, however, the hospital's wards were divided into smaller rooms. The great fire of 1726, took the majority of the hospital's 4-length building complex where the south and west wings were severely damaged by fire, and in 1744 building materials were demolished and sold. In 1949 a church was inaugurated in a vaulted beautiful and evocative basement room under the expanse of the monastery. The basement room previously served as a magazine for the hospital. A service is held in the church every Sunday. The church organ has previously stood in Venø church, the hospital as such has been continued until today, where the residents must live in safe conditions and at a reasonable housing tax - and where the residents are part of a form of community.

4. Here you are on Pumpetorvet, the pump you see here is the last public water post which was / is part of Sct. Mogensgade one of Denmark's oldest streets, viborg's gl. main, commercial street and home to the finer bourgeoisie as you will be able to see the very beautiful buildings, if you go north you will come past Kanapgården where you can take a look in and get a sense of the backyards of that time a little further down the street meets in the city boundary of the time v Mogens gate here the road separates towards Aalborg and Skive, and go south will i bla on the left side pass a couple of houses with several basement descents (7) it was small shops and crafts that stood here, also notice the narrow passages between the houses on your way. Some houses will see that there are 2 years on it due to the great fire in 1726 where almost most of Viborg city burns or is severely damaged and then the remains are built up as it is. Can be seen at Sct. Mogensgade no. 7 in the masonry right. for the stairs like a wedge to straighten the house up again.

5. Here it is now outside the southernmost wing of Viborg's old Latin school (built 1731) in what is called Latiner Garden, it was founded or dishes for 3 reasons where the owners after the fire in 1726 could not afford to build new houses, so the principal and Deputy Inspector at the Latin School shared the grounds (fire plots) and made ornaments and utility gardens and in the southeast corner finds in the "Rector's gazebo" which is today used for small exhibitions and other creative and cultural purposes. If you walk around the garden you will see some of the various small gardens such as the snaps garden, the flower garden the large and small fountain also called the Lion well. Latiner Haven one of the few plots of land after the great fire of 1726 which has not been built on.
