History of this place:

The hermitage Saint-Hubert is the main building of the Retz State Forest. Built in freestone, its foundation predates the reign of Charles VI.

Built between 1520-1540 on the order of François I, its facade is decorated with two carved salamanders.

This former hermitage has been transformed into a lookout on the route of the Laie des Pots (drinking water pipe that carries rainwater from the forest to the Castle François I).
