Nous vous proposons de découvrir le quartier de la ville d'Hiver d'Arcachon, son histoire et ses magnifiques villas (+de 80 !) au cours d'une belle ballade ponctuée de 17 caches, disséminées tout au long du parcours !
Ici, pas d’énigmes ardues à déchiffrer, pas besoin non plus de pelles ou de pioches... cette aventure est pour toute la famille !
Une superbe promenade avec comme point de départ le parc Mauresque surplombant la ville, et comme point final l'observatoire Sainte Cécile.

Et si vous souhaitez faire toute la série, des indices pourront être récupérés dans différentes caches, afin de trouver une GEOCACHE BONUS cachées non loin du point d'arrivée !

Today we propose you to discover the history of the winter townquarter of Arcachon and its awesome houses (over 80 !) with a nice trail of 17 geocaches hidden.
No need to solve impossible riddles here, no need special tools... this adventure is for the whole family !
A nice adventure with the Mauresque parc as starting point, and an amazing viewpoint of Arcachon at the end.
If you decide to complete the serie, some hints can be found in several geocaches, allowing you to find the BONUS GEOCACHE at the end of the trail !

Cet espace vert aménagé au coeur de la ville d'hiver etait à la fin du XIXe siècle le lieu de rendez vous des équipages de chasse à courre au renard et au sanglier dans les forêts entre Arcachon et la Teste.

This green space in the heart of the winter town was at the end of the 19th century the meeting place for fox and wild boar hunting crews in the forests between Arcachon and La Teste.

Le buste de Brémontier y est installé en 1878. Alphonse XII, venu peu après séjourner à la la villa Monaco voisine, trouvait à Brémontier un nez bourbon et un air de Louis XVI.
Nicola Brémontier (1738-1809), ingénieur des Ponts et Chaussées, est chargé en 1784 du service de la province de Guyenne. il travaille alors sur l'envahissement des Landes par les dunes.
Toujours poussés par les vents d'ouest, les sables du littoral de la Gascogne s'avancent en hautes dunes, engloutissant les routes, les agglomérations, les cultures et menaçant de détruire toute la région des Landes de Gascogne jusqu'aux porte de Bordeaux.
Profitant d'etudes antérieures, il effectue en 1787 des essais de fixation sur le site de l'actuel quartier du Moulleau.
Ces travaux sont interrompus par la Révolution, mais en 1796, Brémontier publie un mémoire sur les dunes qui contribue à convaincre le gouvernement de la necessité de les stabiliser.
Il dirige lui-même jusqu'à sa mort les travaux de plantation de pins sur de nombreux sites.

The bust of Brémontier was installed there in 1878. Alphonse XII, who came shortly after to stay at the neighboring villa Monaco, found in Brémontier a bourbon nose and an air of Louis XVI.

Always pushed by the westerly winds, the sands of the coast of Gascony advance in high dunes, engulfing the roads, the agglomerations, the cultures and threatening to destroy the whole region of the Landes de Gascogne to the door of Bordeaux.
Taking advantage of previous studies, in 1787 he carried out fixing tests on the site of the current Moulleau district.
These works were interrupted by the Revolution, but in 1796, Brémontier published a memoir on the dunes which helped to convince the government of the need to stabilize them.
Until his death, he himself directed the work of planting pine trees on many sites.

La villa Coecilia, villa hygiéniste destinée à la location, a le rez-de chaussée qui donne sur une galerie.
Le "solarium" est construit sur un sous-sol surelevé afin de se dégager de l'humidité du sol. Le toit est large et à faible pente comme les maisons landaises.
La villa est implantée entre les pins sans modification de l'environnement.
Réalisée par l'entrepreneur Sarraute, elle a peut-être hérité de ce nom en l'honneur de la fille Péreire, Cécile épouse de Charles Rhoné, conseiller général du canton de La Teste en 1864 et conseiller municipal d'Arcachon (1865-70).

Villa Coecilia, hygienist villa intended for rental, has the ground floor which opens onto a gallery.
The "solarium" is built on a raised basement in order to free itself from soil moisture. The roof is wide and gently sloping like the Landes houses.
The villa is located between the pines without modification of the environment.
Made by the entrepreneur Sarraute, it may have inherited this name in honor of the Péreire daughter, Cécile wife of Charles Rhoné, general councilor of the canton of La Teste in 1864 and municipal councilor of Arcachon (1865-70 ).

La villa ici en 2004. On l'identifie grâce à la pente du toit qui est identique. Les pins ont disparu.

Située sur la partie basse de la place brémontier, cette villa est construite sur le modèle de Sylvabelle et de Monaco, ses proches voisines.
Elle fut longtemps une pension de famille appréciée.

Located on the lower part of Place Brémontier, this villa is built on the model of Sylvabelle and Monaco, her close neighbors.
It was for a long time a popular guesthouse.

La Villa Trocadéro construite en 1863 par Paul Régnault s'appela d'abord Villa Graciosa.
En 1900, elle a été habillée de bois ouvragé (lucarne-pignon), le balcon a été arrondi et un escalier central en pierre a remplacé l'escalier latéral d'origine en bois.
A gauche, on distingue la villa Monaco où avait résidé Alphonse XII d'Espagne avant de rencontrer Marie-Christine d'Autriche qui devint sa femme.

Villa Trocadéro, built in 1863 by Paul Régnault, was first called Villa Graciosa.
In 1900, it was dressed in carved wood (dormer-gable), the balcony was rounded off and a central stone staircase replaced the original wooden side staircase.
On the left, we can see the villa Monaco where Alfonso XII of Spain had resided before meeting Marie-Christine of Austria, who became his wife.

C'était le lieu de rencontre de la Colonie Russe d'Arcachon où des fêtes somptueuses avaient lieu régulièrement.
L'Allée Necker à gauche, devenue Allée du Docteur Festal passe devant la villa Trocadero.
Le buste de Nicolas Brémontier trône presqu'au pied de la villa.

It was the meeting place of the Russian Colony of Arcachon where sumptuous parties were held regularly.
The Allée Necker on the left, which has become Allée du Docteur Festal, passes in front of the Villa Trocadero.
The bust of Nicolas Brémontier sits almost at the foot of the villa.

Cette belle villa est située allée Necker (N°4 Dr Festal).
Elle se trouve à gauche de la villa Trocadéro-Graciosa de la Place Brémontier.
Alphonse XII allant retrouver à pied sa fiancée Marie-Christine résidant à la Villa Bellegarde, allée Faust, traversait la place ornée du buste de Brémontier et lui trouvait une ressemblance avec Louis XVI.
La Villa Monaco est très semblable à la Villa Sylvabelle de l'Allée Brémontier.

This beautiful villa is located on Allée Necker (N ° 4 Dr Festal).
It is to the left of the Villa Trocadéro-Graciosa in Place Brémontier.
Alfonso XII going to find his fiancée Marie-Christine on foot, residing at the Villa Bellegarde, allée Faust, crossed the square decorated with the bust of Brémontier and found it a resemblance to Louis XVI.
Villa Monaco is very similar to Villa Sylvabelle on Allée Brémontier.

On constate aujourd'hui que les bois découpés sous le toit ont disparu ainsi que le bel épi de faîtage.

Voici un authentique témoignage de la construction de la Ville d'Hiver via un cliché de 1864 du photographe Terpereau (on voit le nom imprimé sur la photo à droite).
Noemi, située au 2 allée du Dr Alfred Festal, est une des nombreuses villas qui a appartenu à la Compagnie du Midi.
Elle fut réalisée par l'entrepreneur Thèze d'après les plans de Régnauld.
Sa voisine de droite est Monaco, célèbre pour avoir hébergé Alphonse XII avant sa rencontre avec Marie-Christine d'Autriche descendue avec sa mère à Bellegarde quelques pâtés de maisons plus loin.

Here is an authentic testimony of the construction of the Ville d'Hiver via an 1864 photograph by photographer Terpereau (we see the name printed on the photo to the right).
Noemi, located at 2 allée du Dr Alfred Festal, is one of the many villas that belonged to the Compagnie du Midi.
It was carried out by the contractor Thèze according to Régnauld's plans.
Her neighbor on the right is Monaco, famous for having hosted Alfonso XII before she met Marie-Christine of Austria who went down with her mother to Bellegarde a few blocks away.
