It's been a long time coming, but we are finally pleased to re-publish the 100th Happening event.
It's now over 21 years since the Big Blue Switch was pulled and almost 10 years since cachers in North Herts got together for the first of (what became) a series of events in the East of the BBH* area. It provided a chance to meet together on a 'school night', but without having to travel too far across into the BBH 'heartland'. The first event, the North Herts Happening was at the Three Horseshoes in Norton, Letchworth in November 2011.
Since then, the event series has expanded its reach; so we've dropped the 'North Herts' tag. We now regularly welcome cachers from Beds and Cambs - with others popping in from further afield. All are always welcome.
April 2020 should have been 100th Happening event, but we are now pleased to publish a belated event - which we are now also honoured to be able to sub-brand as a Geocaching Community Celebration Event - an extra-special cache type to add to your collection.
It's a Saturday lunchtime - and we hope this will enable as many friends and new faces as possible to gather to celebrate. There will be 'Happening 100' cupcakes to mark the occasion!

Join us from 12 noon - 2pm on Saturday 25th September 2021 at Fairlands Valley Park in Stevenage - by the lakeside cafe. All cachers and muggles are welcome - even if this will be your first event!

There is a cafe close by, serving a wide range of drinks and snacks. At the time of publication they are only open for takeaway service. Or you may like to bring a picnic. There are some trees nearby for slight shelter, but you may want to pack a large brolley just in case! Toilets and plenty of parking in several carparks around the park (see waypoints). There is play equipment nearby and a water-sports centre right next to the event site if you feel adventurous (booking required) and there is plenty of space for games, walking (and of course caching!)
COVID-19
This event is held entirely outside in the fresh air with plenty of opportunity for social distancing. You may still wear a mask if you wish. The nearby cafe offers a takeaway service from an outside hatch. The inside toilets require visitors to wear a face covering and enter one household / bubble at a time.
This event will include an official FTF, drawn at random from all the attendees who sign the log book.
