Geocache Description:

28 December 2022, 18:00 - 20:00

We all get them…those unique gifts from a relative or work associate that you just can’t find perfect place in your home to display them. Well, here’s your chance to offload share with someone else the joy you feel each time you move them around. Dust one of them off and wrap it up for an “after Christmas but before New Years” White Elephant Gift Exchange.

Come on out and exchange that 'special' gift you're longing to part with, while at the same time, blessing someone else with a treasure.

Who knows – maybe you’ll get an exceptional gem for Christmas this year that you can re-gift immediately and you won’t even have to search for that ‘special’ spot in your house.

Date: 12/28/2022

Time: 6pm – 8pm

Place: Lake Orion Culver’s

NE corner of Dutton Rd and M-24.

We will party in the heated, outdoor patio so dress accordingly. Though it’s heated it is outside (semi-enclosed). Don’t forget to bring your wrapped gift (no tag).

If you don’t want to participate in the gift exchange, come anyway. Bring a story to share about your favorite cache hide, trip, or adventure. We’ll have fun and lots of laughs as we reminisce about previous caching exploits and prepare for the new year ahead.

Just in case you don’t know what a White Elephant Gift Exchange is, here is the definition I found on the interweb:

“The game derives its name from the term white elephant as defined by something of dubious or limited value or an object no longer of value to its owner but of value to others. Thus, in its basic form the game calls for people to bring “gag” gifts or gifts they received that they have no use for.”

Also:

“The term white elephant refers to an extravagant, impractical gift that cannot be easily disposed of. The phrase is said to come from the historic practice of the King of Siam (now Thailand) giving rare albino elephants to courtiers who had displeased him, so that they might be ruined by the animals' upkeep costs.

Please don’t bring any albino elephants to this party!

And please, please, don’t make a special trip to the store to purchase a gift.
