Un peu d'histoire...
À l’entrée de PARCY, un des hameaux de PARCY-TIGNY, à une vingtaine de mètres du Monument aux morts de la Grande guerre, se trouve un grès imposant. Ni vraiment stèle, ni vraiment borne, il est décoré de plusieurs plaques souvenirs.
Deux d’entre-elles rendent hommage au Régiment d’Infanterie Coloniale du Maroc qui s’illustra à cet endroit lors de l’offensive victorieuse menée par le Général MANGIN en 1918.
Le 19 juillet 1918, un des officiers, le célèbre Capitaine Joost VAN VOLLENHOVEN a été tué non loin de là. Sa dépouille repose à quelques kilomètres de LONGPONT dans un mausolée qui lui est dédié, mais une plaque sur le grès indique l’endroit où il tomba.
La quatrième plaque donne le nom de la marraine du « monument ».

At the entrance of PARCY, one of the hamlets of PARCY-TIGNY, at twenty meters from the Memorial of the First World War, you will find an imposing sandstone. Neither really stela, nor truly landmark, it is decorated with several commemorative plates.

On July 19, 1918, one of the officers, the famous Captain Joost VAN VOLLENHOVEN has been killed not far from there. His remains lie a few kilometers away from LONGPONT in a mausoleum dedicated to him, but a plate on the sandstone marks the place where he fell.
