Geocache Description:

Twist me and turn me and show me the Brownie elf – I looked in the water and saw myself!

In 2015, a Girl Scout Brownie troop left this cache hidden in a pavilion in Camp Golden Pond as part of earning their Letterboxing Badge. Long forgotten, it was recently rediscovered by Friends of Golden Pond during routine maintenance. The stamp and ink are long dried, but the log book is eagerly awaiting your signature. Can you tell us their troop number?

To get to the cache, start at the camp entrance (5126 Eberle Rd) and park in the main parking lot (left out of the traffic circle). You can then walk up the main road. If you are off the main camp road, you have made a wrong turn.

The cache is in one of the pavilions at the camp. If the pavilion is reserved, you will need to come back later. You do NOT need to open anything in the pavillion to find the cache.

Important Note: None of the geocaches at Camp Golden Pond will take you off trail or ask you to open any building, cabinet, etc. If you are off trail or encounter a “posted/no trespassing” sign, you are in the wrong place.

Seasonal Note: During winter, the water in the pavillion and nearby bathroom are turned off and the camp road is not plowed.

In 1988 Hemlock Girl Scout Council dedicated Lake Louise at Camp Golden Pond  “with the hope that Lake Louise at Camp Golden Pond will be a source of fun and fond memories for Girl Scouts for many generations.” In 2018, Girl Scouts in he Heart of PA divested themselves of the camp and the camp is now operated by Friends of Golden Pond, a public charity dedicated to keeping this amazing resource available to the public.

While the primary visitors to Camp Golden Pond are Girl Scout, Scouts BSA, and other youth organizations, the camp is open to the general public.
