Geocache Description:

Entering the area of the memorial stones, you are at the NW side of the memorial. Stand at the single, white, marker stone with the words “The Remains Of Those...” facing you. The long side of the memorial area to your left contains what I will refer to as Bays 1-3, the short side facing you is Bay 4 and the long side to your right contains Bays 5-7.

At the single, white, marker stone you need to note the third letter in the eighth line.
I will lead you around the memorial stones from Bay 1 to Bay 7 and we will look at some of the less frequently noted Ranks and Units.
Major J. Aitken: note the middle letter from the third word of his Unit.
77950 2nd Air Mechanic Anderson: take his first initial and note the letter before it in the alphabet.
T1/5276 Driver R. Buchanan: note the fifth letter in the third word of his Unit.
S/10571 Private G.D. Cameron: shares a memorial stone with two others, note the initial of the Serjeant.
J. Chisholm of H.M.S. Armadale Castle: note the third letter of his Rank.
Before you move on, put a dot at the end of the word you have formed.

Second Mate W.W. Ferguson, MMR (Mercantile Marine Reserve): note the first initial of his ship's designation.
Serjeant A. Forrest: note the second letter of the first word of his Unit.
Serjeant A. MC L. Leigh: note the fourth or fifth letter in his former Unit.
Private N.W. Brittain: note the middle letter of the month he died.
Marine F. Coyle: note the second letter of his Rank, located left of his Number.
D. McKinnon, 4th City of Glasgow Battalion Home Guard: note the third letter of his Rank.
Before you move on, put a dot at the end of the word you have formed.

T. Sharp Boy Telegraphist: note the first letter of the month that he died. The “Boy” in his rank meant that T. Sharp was between 16 and 18 years old.
Private D Stewart: take the first digit of his serial number from the last number and convert to a letter where Z=26, Y=25 etc.
3767 Private W. Stewart: note the fourth letter of the third line
A. Wyper: note the first letter of the second word of his Rank
