Geocache Description:

Join us along a series of caches celebrating wonderful trees. We are new to hiding caches so hope you enjoy them. There is nothing quite as lovely as a magnificent tree, so why not stop to admire them as you seek out these caches?

The beautiful tall, evergreen, coniferous tree in front of you is a Sequoia Wellingtonia or Giant Redwood. Species can reach 90m in height when fully grown, with the trunk up to 7m in diameter. The crown is narrowly cone-shaped, with down-swept branches. All the leaves are scale-like with egg/ball-shaped cones.

We can’t pass by this tree without stopping to admire its beauty. Take some time out to hug the tree and feel its’ energy. It is wonderous!

You are standing next to the Grade II listed former college swimming baths. Built in 1871 by W H Knight, the high Victorian style of Flemish bond yellow brick with red brick bands and limestone ashlar dressing. Note also the louvred ventilation cupola in the roof.
