This Historical Landmark comemorates the oldest surviving orange tree in California. The Mediterranean Sweet Orange seedling was imported from Mazatlan, Mexico and purchased on the streets of Old Sacramento. It was planted in 1856 by Judge Joseph Lewis at the toll bridge near the old town of Bidwell Bar, now under Oroville Lake. It was moved from Bidwell Bar to it's present location when the dam was constructed in 1964 to protect it for future generations. It still produces fruit more than 160 years after it was planted.
