We are continuing our summer event series at the beautiful setting of The Crossed Guns at Avoncliff. And this time it is a Celebration Event!
As we celebrate 20 years of Geocaching worldwide, it has been over 10 years since the first Event in Bath that I attended - GC2P1Q6 (May 2011). That was followed by an event called "Bath Meet and Greet #1" in January 2012, at The Saracens Head (GC38839). "The Oldfields" had the idea to make it a regular meet with GC38839 in May 2013. The visiting "bargee" then started regular monthly meets starting with GC4CHKB "Adrift In Bath" in July 2013.
When "bargee" returned to the North, Smartie Top started what we now call the "Bathtime Buddies" events with GC5EY31 "It's Bath Time again" in October 2014. From that time on we have had regular events, taking turns to arrange them.
By the end of 2015 we started calling them "Bathtime Events". The first event we called ourselves "Bathtime Buddies" was in August 2018.
Events in Bath before I became a cacher (March 2009) which I have discovered:
- GCWGDP Not A Real Event July 2006
- GC1BWNJ Return to Oz June 2008
If anyone knows of earlier Bath events please share!
I'm planning to give out some prizes. These will be based on 36 different criteria chosen at random. See attached images showing the rules and criteria. If possible please log a "Will Attend" at least 24 hours in advance so I can collect the statistics.
Outside setting, usually on the top terrace. Food and drink served but no purchase necessary.
Avoncliff train station is approx 2min walk and there is a Pay & Display carpark on the Westwood side. It is also possible to walk, travel by boat (or even swim!) from Bradford-on-Avon. In the (extremely) unlikely event of snow, snowshoes could be useful. Or not.
Come and join us for chit chat and fun. Newbies, geohounds and kids welcome.
