This is a 2 stage multi-cache. The final is a large container that contains a code word that you need for your passport.
You have found your next adventure! Thank you for joining us for the “Visit Centre County”
GeoTour as we show you some of our most favorite caching locations to include state parks,
beautiful vistas, and historical points of interest! Our team of GeoTour planners have worked
very hard to put together various cache types to keep the GeoTour interesting and challenging;
however, no geocache should be beyond a 3/3.5 for terrain and/or difficulty! We are pleased to
show you around our County and hope that you will enjoy the GeoTour and complete your
passport to collect your custom GeoTour Geocoin (there is a minimum number of caches
required to receive coin)!
If you will be caching with some young ‘uns, we have a Jr. Geocaching Passport available for
children, 12 yrs. and under, with a special prize for their hard work too! Caches will be marked
as “family-friendly” and should correlate to the Jr. Geocaching Passport.

I archived the original four stage cache and replaced it with a two stage cache to make it better suited for our county tour.
The following is a description of the area that I found on the internet.
Aside from its exceptional natural components, the Scotia Barrens offers a link to the region's iron-mining history. As early as 1790, area settlers realized that the Barrens was a rich source of raw material for the iron furnaces that soon dotted the central Pennsylvania landscape. In 1881, Pittsburgh industrialist Andrew Carnegie bought 400 acres from Centre Furnace ironmaster Moses Thompson and named his new company town Scotia, after his homeland of Scotland. A bustling company town sprang up, along with large open-pit mines, ore processing facilities, railroad service, and all the necessities of village life. Today the few remnants of the town of Scotia and its ore-mining past are preserved within the Barrens.
This cache is located near some of these remnants.
The given coordinates will take you to an historical sign.
You will need information from the sign to get the final and parking coordinates.
A = 550 + (number of letters in first line X number of letters in second line).
B = The date on the sign – 985.
C = 13 X the number of letters in the last word of the seventh line.
D = 800 – the number of letters in the sixth line.
Note: The title word SCOTIA is not considered a line.

This cache is on State Game Land so remember to wear fluorescent orange during hunting season.
