AGT(G) - Capela dos Ossos Traditional Geocache

A Capela de Ossos de Campo Maior, no Alentejo, localiza-se na freguesia de Nossa Senhora da Expectação, na vila e concelho de Campo Maior, distrito de Portalegre, em Portugal. Localiza-se no Largo Doutor Regala n.º 6, adossada à Igreja Matriz de Campo Maior.

É a segunda maior capela de ossos do País a seguir à de Évora, na Igreja de São Francisco.

Foi construída em 1766 após a explosão num paiol que provocou a morte de mais de dois terços da população em 1732.

O interior do edifício foi construído recorrendo às ossadas das vítimas desta tragédia. O pavimento é do século XX.

The Bone Chapel of Campo Maior, in the Alentejo, is located in the parish of Nossa Senhora da Expecção, in the village and municipality of Campo Maior, district of Portalegre, in Portugal. It is located at Largo Doutor Regala nº 6, adjacent to the Church of Campo Maior.

It is the second largest chapel of bones in the country after Évora, in the Church of São Francisco.

It was built in 1766 after the explosion in a gunpowder storeroom that killed more than two thirds of the population in 1732.

The interior of the building was built using the bones of the victims of this tragedy. The floor is from the 20th century.

Esta cache não se encontra junto da capela pois a mesma irá entrar em obras durante algum tempo. Quando as obras estiverem terminadas a mesma será recolocada.
