Geocache Description:

This is 1 of many caches in KCSearcher's County series that were given away as FTF prizes at his “FTF on Feb 29? YES!!! Come Tell Your Stories” event. For those attendees that received this as a prize, they have a 7 day head start on those that didn’t attend the event. The prize winners were instructed to sign the log in the “Pre-Publication FTFer(s)” space.

However, for you FTF Hounds that were not able to attend, you too can be FTF on this cache. All you need to do is find the cache and be first to sign in the “Post-Publication FTFer(s)” space on the log. As an FTF Hound myself, I sometimes find it discouraging to see a cache published thinking I have a chance at the FTF only to find out later that it was given away as a prize at an event. I actually think it’s fine to give an FTF opportunity prize away. However, it would be nice for those that didn’t attend to also get an FTF chance. So, in that spirit, and as the Cache Owner, I am allowing FTF’s to also go to those that did not attend.

Why this County and Why here? I have the Instant Notification Service setup on my geocaching.com account to so that I get an email every time a cache is published within a radius of 50 miles (80 kilometers) of my home at the time of publication. Once I’m notified, I can then decide whether to rush after it or wait. I’ve been doing this for the past few years and have a GSAK macro that shows me on Google Earth where the 50 mile radius extends. I ran that macro and there were 14 counties within a 50 mile radius. I added one more cache in my home county of Contra Costa not horribly far from the event location. I looked at where the approximate center was of the overlapping area of the 50 mile radius and county line. I set a point at that location and attempted to place a cache there while adhering to the guidelines for listing a cache.

Have Fun!!! and please consider visiting all caches in KCSearcher's County series. Click Here to be presented a list of those caches.
